What gets written into the set
Session™ Key reads the key and BPM from whatever is playing through the Mac's audio output and shows both in the menu bar with a confidence mark on every read. When the reading locks, one send brings Live forward and hands over the key and the tempo, and Live applies the tempo and the song scale.
The companion is put in place by Session™ Key when Ableton Live is chosen as the DAW, so no file is copied by hand. What is left is a single selection inside Live's settings, and Settings carries a control that reinstalls the companion if a DAW update ever clears it.
Detection runs on the device. No audio is uploaded, recorded or stored off the Mac, which is the difference that matters when the track in the set is an unreleased record.

- No accuracy figure is published for Session™ Key, and none appears on this site. Every read carries a confidence mark instead, and when two tempos are equally defensible at half or double time both are named.
