An alternative is a translation, not a replacement
Oblique Strategies is not a deck with a flaw that a newer deck has fixed. It is a specific idea, executed almost perfectly, addressed to a specific situation.
The situation is one artist with time, alone with the work, willing to sit with a sentence until it turns into a direction. Everything good about the deck follows from that address.

What the original actually does
The Eno shop describes Oblique Strategies as over one hundred worthwhile dilemmas by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt, created in 1975, designed to help artists, musicians, writers and creatives approach the work from fresh, unexpected angles.
The two examples their own shop prints show the range, from a direct suggestion like “Use an old idea” to a more abstract provocation such as “Consider different fading systems”. That spread is the deck in miniature, and those two are the shop's choice, not ours.
Both of those work beautifully on your own at two in the afternoon. Neither one tells four people in a booked room what to do in the next five minutes, and it was never trying to.
